Tour de ZWAP 2025 - Portugal

Tour de ZWAP 2025, or "Portugal Top to Bottom" was this year's signature event, where a group of 21 cyclists from Norway, UK, USA and Canada, 15 of them with Parkinson's, cycled 850 km over 10 days starting 24th of June. 

We started at the magnificent fort in Valenca with views over the river to Spain. Spending the first day in the spectacular hills of Northern Portugal, we then striked the coast and followed coastal paths for three days. We then slowly worked our way down and across the country, finally reaching the Spanish border in the northern Algarve. These days were extremely hot, with temperatures above 40 degree Celcius in the afternoon. The heat was successfully handled with plenty of water supplies, an early start and a finish before noon. For the final day we striked the Algarve’s southern coast and then followed cycle trails down to the coastline and end station Tavira.
